The Critter Catcher is a cool product. I live in Florida by a lake and we have many insects knocking at the door. I’ve had it a week and I have evicted a roach, 3 mosquitoes, and a dragonfly (Pictured). All of them were caught and released without being hurt.

  2. Michelle

It’s just a plastic rod, pretty much, but it does what it says it does…. Everyone in the comments going on about how it doesn’t work for really small things or fast things? Well, I caught a fly with it. A normal house fly, that was running around on my floor. I’ve also caught a very large moth. So far, since getting it, I haven’t even seen a single spider so if all it does for spiders is deter them, that’s fine too. My house is usually full of spiders, at least one a day kind of thing. They just all seemed to have noped out. Which is okay but also like, be in the wrong place and I’d kill them before, now with this critter catcher if I can catch it with it, I’d put it outside.

  3. Chris Chen

I haven’t try it yet. It looks good and hopefully works as it suppose to be too. However, be alert! There is a huge plastic spider come with it and sit on the grip. For someone who is terrified of bugs, this really scared the crap out of me. I really hope this would be in the description somewhere and highlighted so I am more prepared.

  4. Nathan Staples

Blown away by this thing. You can catch the smallest ants and spiders, up to a small frog without injuring them. Every kid and outdoor enthusiast needs to own this.

  5. Jen

Everyone thinks I’m crazy but I choose a spider over a mosquito/house fly any day. Love this product and is so easy to grab a spider and relocate him away from your property. Taught my 8 year old stepson how to be gentle picking up one and moving it. He learned to get over his fear of them and why we want to help save them so they can help us enjoy our days outside.

  6. CRTV

I easily caught a stink bug on the day I received My Critter Catcher. It was so easy. I took it outside and released it. As for how sturdy the product is, only time will tell. Right now I’m very happy with the product.

  7. Wolfy

I’d give this a 5 star review if it weren’t for the protective cap. It doesn’t fit snugly enough and falls off very easily. A line of electrical tape around the green portion of the unit (that makes contact with the cap) fixed that (see photo). Now it’s 5 stars!

  8. Drew

It was a small spider, so it took a few tries, but it did the trick! Poor guy couldn’t move when I had him in it, but he was perfectly healthy when released. I rated 4/5 stars because it took a few tries, it being made for larger bugs. It’s funny; I was in the shower this morning, around 11 am, and saw this spider on the shower wall. I knew the package would arrived today, so, when it arrived at 3 pm, I immediately put it to use.

  9. Taylor

I’m deathly afraid of spiders but I feel bad killing them and with the summer coming up the spiders are starting to show up more. This actually works!!! It’s really easy and does not harm the spiders at all. Comes with an attachment so that you could hang it up in a pantry or garage. Thank goodness for critter catchers!!

  10. Sarah F

I have a huge phobia of spiders and these have literally changed my life. I can easily remove spiders from my home without having to get near them. It works great on small, medium, and large spiders and spiders who are in a web / repelling down from their butt rope. They are not as effective with super tiny spiders or spiders that are tight into a corner. They also work with various other bugs like hornets and flying things.

  11. Chelsey Steinman

This thing. Oh how it has changed my life.

I live alone in a small NYC apartment, and for the past 3 years have had a mysterious increase of American cockroaches.

I used to find maybe 2-3 per summer. Since May, I’ve seen over 20. I’ve paid an exterminator, sealed every nook and cranny shut, but for some reason they really want to come in here and die. Maybe I should take it as a compliment?

Anyhow, it might seem that having mostly dead ones is better than live ones. But I’m really not sure. They are so big, I just can’t stand to pick them up. Not even with a shop vac (which their big dead bodies clog up anyway).

They terrorize me. I really pride myself on not being afraid of silly things, but I just can’t with these. Spiders? Fine. Snakes? No problem. Geckos? Cute! American roaches? 😱

Another huge issue are the half-dead ones. What does one do when you arrive home from a long day at work, ready to sit down on your couch and enjoy some dinner and Netflix, but there is a half-dead roach lying in front of your tv? If you try to kill it, it WILL get up and start running at you. But it’s too big to pick up with your little girly hands. Your night is ruined. The apartment you pay $2,000+/month for does not belong to you. Find somewhere else to eat your dinner and relax until the roach is dead enough to try to pick up the next day.

I paint these scenarios for you all so you can truly understand how much this bug picker-upper has given me back my home and life. It picks up these huge roaches perfectly. I’ve only tried it on dead or half-dead ones, but that’s fine with me. It’s so easy to use, that this morning, before putting my contact lenses in, I noticed what seemed to be a dead-ish one on my kitchen floor. I purposely left my contacts out so I didn’t have to see details, grabbed this thing, snatched up the roach in one fell swoop and dropped it in the toilet. Was it dead or alive or brown or black or winged or not? Thanks to this contraption, I’ll never have to know.

  12. JB.LW

GOT ‘EM !! 2 days after I received my Critter Catcher I pressed it into action to catch a praying mantis. Now, I know most people LOVE praying mantis’ – but not us! They kill hummingbirds and we have a Hummingbird-Friendly yard! You cannot engage in hand-to-hand combat with a praying mantis because they are MADE OF STEEL. Since they lay in wait on the hummingbird feeder and in the vine on our courtyard wall where our pet hummingbird hangs, I NEEDED something for them (well, and truth be known, something for spiders too!). So this morning a mantis JUMPED ON MY FACE – and after I screamed – I calmly got my Critter Catcher and roped him, and released him down the hill. He’s happy, I’m happy (at least until he comes back.) BEST GIFT IDEA EVER!!!

This think ROCKS! I am very skittish about bugs and this is a quick and easy way to remove them from my home without killing them! YAY! I’ve used it for spiders (small and big) and even small wasps – super super easy!
It came with a cover to protect the bristles and a little pretend spider to practice on! It also came with a sticker hook, but it wasn’t very sturdy. I just keep mine on a bookshelf.

After 2 BIG & nasty spiders broke into my house & attempted to assisnate me, & I spent 10 minutes screaming and trying to get the courage to get near them with a paper towel to finish the job, I knew I needed a solution. This is the solution & it is the best thing ever. It gives me enough distance from the spider that I feel more comfortable catching it, & the bristles provide a secure catch. Even better, it comes with a plastic test spider & a hook to hang it where it will be ready for you. Spiders that enter my house don’t leave & this makes the job easier & less gross.

  15. Kim

A very kind soul thought of this product OR someone who was terrified of spiders LOL! Either way, it works great and does not kill the bug when you grab it! Way better idea that what I was currently doing with a cup and piece of paper 🙂 The spider actually gets stuck and cannot move until you release. Great invention!!!

  16. Celeste

This thing surpassed my greatest expectations! It is easy to use, holds spiders very securely, and makes releasing them a breeze! It has enough reach to catch a spider on the ceiling (and I’m 5’4″, so I don’t have much reach to begin with). No worrying about having to get up close to catch a spider with a cup or risking marks on stuff if I smash a spider. And for that matter, no more feeling horrible about killing an innocent bug because I no longer feel like I have to resort to that. One day I hope to have one for every floor of my house! This should be a staple for every home.

  17. Schrans

Love it! Just now tested it on a spider I found in my bathroom. Caught and safely released outside! Also used it on a June bug a few days ago and it worked great then!

  18. CB

I love this product! I’ve “rescued” so many bugs and released them outside. It is soooo easy. My only complaint is that “cover” when not in use does not stay on, but that’s it. It’s amazing! No more squeals when I see a bug!!
